Rangeley, Maine • Ongoing
Tucked into the woods of Rangeley, this Bygg project is a small, high-performance ADU designed to honor the land it sits on. With land and access in place, the focus is on thoughtful, minimal-impact construction—how little can we disturb the landscape while building something beautiful and durable?
This project is currently in the site planning phase. In the meantime, I’m kicking things off closer to home with a garage apartment build in Skowhegan—using that project to refine the training model and hands-on approach that will carry into Rangeley.
Youth Build Summer Camp • June 2024
“Ready, Set, Build!” was a weeklong youth construction camp that introduced project management and building-science fundamentals through hands-on learning. An illustrated workbook guided campers through key concepts in an accessible, playful way while reinforcing lessons throughout the week.
Campers were divided into four teams, each responsible for designing one wall of an 8′ × 8′ play structure. The first day focused on design, teamwork, and understanding the scope of the project. By day two, the campers’ sketches had been transformed into a 3D model of their collective design, and teams began assembling wall sections while learning the purpose and function of framing.
On day three, the walls were raised, and the structure began to take shape. Siding—ironically, the most time-consuming step—wrapped up just in time for campers to climb inside and enjoy the finished play structure on the final day.
The project demonstrated how complex building concepts can be made approachable for young learners through hands-on experience, collaboration, and creative problem-solving.
