Bygg /big/ is the Norwegian word for barley; one of several grain-inspired threads woven through our family story.
At its core, Bygg is built on a simple belief: better buildings start with better understanding.
We believe people build better when they have access to the right knowledge, practical experience, and a community that supports learning. Whether you’re a homeowner planning a project, a contractor looking to strengthen your skills, or someone exploring a future in the trades, understanding how buildings work leads to better decisions and better outcomes.
Bygg brings together consulting, construction, and education to help people gain the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to build well. Our work is grounded in building science, informed by hands-on construction experience, and driven by a desire to make better building practices more accessible.
From project guidance and code compliance support to construction projects and hands-on learning opportunities, Bygg exists to help people become more capable builders and create buildings that are comfortable, durable, and built to last.
Because stronger communities are built the same way as better buildings: one thoughtful project, one shared skill, and one person at a time.
Small structures can spark bygg possibilities.
I’m a builder, mom, and three-dimensional designer with a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. I’m a Certified Passive House Tradesperson and the former Training Director at passivhausMAINE, where I led statewide trainings on building to code and beyond.
My work focuses on helping people build with clarity and confidence; combining hands-on construction experience, building science, and a commitment to opening doors in the trades.
In 2024, I led a youth build camp where twelve students, ages 7–10, designed and built an eight-by-eight-foot play structure. The experience reflects what continues to drive my work: creating opportunities for learning and helping people of all ages gain confidence through building.
