Welcome to Bygg Construction—a practice rooted in responsible building and inspired by the belief that small structures can spark bygg possibilities. Our goal is to design and craft resilient, high-performance spaces that honor Maine’s landscapes, using low-carbon materials, super-insulated assemblies, and airtight construction that ensures draft-free comfort, continuous fresh air, and long-term durability without the risk of mold or condensation. Our focus is on structures under 600 square feet—thoughtful ADUs, small cabins, studios, and affordable outbuildings built to last.
“Bygg” is the Norwegian word for barley—just one of the grain-inspired nods woven through our family. Looking ahead, we envision a future shaped by durable small structures, climate-forward design, and a community of emerging builders who grow through hands-on experience.
Small structures can spark bygg possibilities.
I’m a builder, mom, and three-dimensional designer with a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. I’m a Certified Passive House Tradesperson and the Training Director at passivhausMAINE, blending craft, building science, and hands-on teaching in every project. I lead trainings on building to code and beyond, and I’m committed to opening doors in the trades. My work centers on empowering others, designing with intention, and building a more resilient, inclusive future for Maine.
Last summer, I led a youth build camp where twelve students, ages 7–10, designed and built an eight-by-eight-foot play structure. The experience—and the moment captured here—reflects my belief that small structures can spark bygg opportunities for creativity, skill-building, and confidence.
